Between rising fuel costs driving up ticket prices and the joys of working with airport security, it’s no wonder more travelers are shying away from flying. The good news is at least one of the major airlines plans to entice potential customers with the promise of high-speed Internet access.



Delta Airlines is partnering with Aircell (airborne communications provider) to install their network on the airline’s domestic fleet of some 330 aircrafts. The system will allow customers traveling with Wi-Fi enabled devices (such as laptops, smartphones and PDAs) to access the broadband Internet while in flight.



However, don’t expect your airfare to cover the cost of this luxury. For those who plan to use the service, a flat fee of $9.95 will be charged on flights of three hours or less, and that charge jumps to $12.95 on flights of more than three hours.
